Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. - CCC 1213

The Catholic Church baptizes all ages. Adolescence and adults are prepared for Baptism through a process called RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation).

Baptism of infants is generally celebrated after Mass on Sunday or after the Vigil Mass on Saturday. Before scheduling a baptism, parents must be registered parishioners and are required to take one class outlining the responsibilities of baptizing your child in the Church..

Those who approach the sacrament of Penance (also known as Reconciliation or Confession) obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer, labors for their conversion. - CCC 1422

- 4:00-5:00 pm, Saturday at St. Nicholas (Kinsley)
- 7:00-7:45 am,  Sundays at St. Joseph (Offerle)
- Daily 30 minutes before Mass or by appointment

The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life."
For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch. - CCC 1324

Students receive their First Communion during the Spring semester of their second grade year. First Communion formation is a two year process, beginning in first grade and completed with the second grade.

The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For "by the sacrament of Confirmation [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed." - CCC 1285

Students in the 5th grade may be confirmed in the Spring semester every year.

Adults who are not confirmed may be confirmed when the Bishop comes or at the Easter Vigil. Please contact the parish office for more information.

Marriage is the sacrament by which Christ joins a Christian man and woman in a grace-giving, lifelong union. Any two baptized people capable of marriage, when they have freely and legally married, receive the sacrament of marriage.

Any Catholic young adult (18 years and older) is eligible for marriage in the Catholic Church. The prospective bride or groom must be a registered member at either St. Nicholas or St. Joseph Parish and a practicing Catholic.
Arrangements must be made at least six months in advance of the wedding date. Arrangements will be finalized only after meeting first with the Pastor.

Persons who are divorced but wanting to marry in the Catholic Church may "petition" to be free to marry. Couples already legally married, one being a baptized Catholic, are welcome to have their marriage "blessed" or convalidated in the Catholic Church. Contact the Pastor: 620-659-2692.

Holy Orders refer specifically to the sacramental orders of deacon, priest, and bishop. More commonly, it is used to describe a vocation to the priesthood.

In the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, Christ uses the anointing and prayers of the priest to give comfort and strength to the soul and to the body of one who is seriously ill. We meet Christ here to receive his healing, comfort, strength, and pardon.

Catholics who are seriously ill, mentally or physically, may receive the anointing. The anointing may also be received by one whose condition is so serious that it requires surgery with a general anesthetic or even if one is weak from old age.
